Hershey and Local 464 Sign Two Year Contract
The Hershey Chocolate Corporation and Bakery and Confectionery Workers Union AFL Local No. 464 signed a two year contract effective November 1, 1954 through December 31, 1956 with five year retirement and insurance provisions. Wage increases of one half cent per hour for all employees and three cents per hour for male workers begin November 1, 1954 and 1955 respectively, plus double time for Easter Sunday work. Enhanced death, sickness, and hospital benefits, 100 percent dependent coverage, private room rates, and a spouse survivor pension after retirement are included under Metropolitan Life. Negotiators include J. R. Zoll, S. F. Hinkle, E. R. Lehman, H. B. Mohler for the corporation and R. S. Sponaugle, G. L. Hall for Local 464.

Retired Hershey Group Hosts Thanksgiving Dinner
The Hershey Retired Employees Association held its November meeting at the Hershey fire hall with a full course turkey dinner. Seventy attended. Guest speaker was Rev. Thomas Guinivan of Hershey's First E U B Church. Entertainment included performances by Mrs. Ed Early Irvin Spancake and Ed Harkins with comedy by Kline and Weber of Lebanon.

Halloween Parade Amid Chill Draws Hershey Crowd
Citizens braved freezing temperatures for a PTA Halloween parade in Hershey. The Hershey High Orange and Blue band led from School Plaza to the Stadium with youth, parents, and community groups distributing 1000 balloons and hosting floats from 4-H and Optimist Club. Harvest Queen Suzanna Harkcom and attendants rode in convertibles as the crowd enjoyed hot dogs and coffee in a festive, brisk evening.
