Milton Hershey Seniors Prepare For Commencement

The Milton Hershey School graduating class of 95 holds Baccalaureate in Hershey Community Theater on Sunday June 3 and Commencement on Monday June 4. Rev. Thomas Guinivan preaches the Baccalaureate sermon on Everyone Can Be a Servant with other ministers participating. Class Day Monday June 4 features Master of Ceremonies Marvin Soloff, musical selections, and awards presented by Dr. John O Hershey and W. Allen Hammond. The Commencement speaker is Dr. Ralph W. Lockman. Summa cum laude graduates include Joseph A Bach and Raymond R Drey with several others honored cum laude.

F and M Alumni Medal for Hershey Principal

Franklin and Marshall College Alumni Association will award W. Allen Hammond the alumni medal for distinguished service. Hammond, Milton Hershey School principal since 1934, is a 1916 F and M graduate with a B D from the Seminary in 1922 and a master’s from Columbia in 1923.

Weather Delays Peak Rose Display at Hershey Garden

Cold weather pushes back the peak bloom but roses will still brighten Hershey Garden this weekend. Harry L. Erdman says blooming should be best the weekend of June 9-10 with 27 new varieties, including twelve unnamed, among 40 000 rose plants across five and a half acres. Admission is free with hours 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Salute to Hershey special tabloid edition announced

The Lebanon Daily News will publish a forthcoming supplement titled Salute to Hershey on Saturday. It will feature illustrated articles on Hershey enterprises and community groups including churches service clubs the American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars Hershey Volunteer Fire Company State Police Training School and local schools. It also presents the history of Chocolate Town as a keepsake for residents.

Local Man to Earn Dual Degree This Year

Regulations For Civil Defense Test Advised In Hershey

Hershey residents were reminded of a statewide Civil Defense Test to be held between June 1 and 10. Louis C. Smith Jr, Derry Township Civil Defense Director, announced revised Air Raid Instructions including alert signals, at home shelter steps, and guidance to stay off the telephone during emergencies.
