I Earl Walmer of the Hershey Chocolate Corporation Traffic Department will close his desk this Friday ending a 40 year career begun May 28 1917. He plans to travel in retirement and has bought a Nash Rambler for rambling with Florida as a potential stop. A dinner tonight at Spinners Restaurant will honor him with thirty two department coworkers in attendance.
Mr. C. J. Speicher chairman thanked Derry Township residents for support in the 1957 Financial Campaign of the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company. The aim was a new Emergency Rescue Truck and annual operating funds. By June 24 the drive raised 13,831.05 toward a 14,853.30 goal with 11,061.05 for the truck and 2,770 for expenses.
James Duncan Gruber of Hershey, son of Mr and Mrs Irvine J Gruber, has been appointed to the United States Naval Academy and will report to Annapolis to begin studies for a commission as Naval Ensign. A 1957 Hershey High School graduate, he earned a congressional appointment from Walter M Mumma. He played in the school band orchestra and chorus, hopes to join the Academy band and golf teams, and earned Eagle with Silver Palm in Troop 65 plus the God and Country Award.
