Army Cpl. Peter Marcucci of the Seventh Division's 31st Regiment says Hershey Pa is the sweetest hometown in the United States. He is a supply clerk in the 1st Battalion Headquarters and his parents live at 265 W Chocolate Avenue.
Private First Class Carl Crum, son of Ralph Crum of Hershey, leaves with about 13,000 soldiers of the 31st Dixie Division. The 1,200 mile move from Camp Atterbury Indiana to Camp Carson Colorado occurs between February 1 and 15, three years after the division was reactivated on January 16 1951. Crum serves in Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 200th Infantry Regiment.
A quartet from Hershey Junior College has been invited to sing in the Collegiate Chorus at Lock Haven State Teachers College on Saturday Sunday and Monday. Representing the local school in the event will be Betty Seibert Mae Leonard Ralph Hetrick and Ronald McCoy.
Derry Township enforces parking ordinance with red tickets issued to violators. Signs marking restricted parking completed, placing the ordinance in full effect. The traffic rule, enacted October 12 1953, authorizes townships to regulate parking to protect the public.
Plans to solicit funds to buy an ambulance for the Hershey Ambulance Corps were outlined by C. J. Speicher at a fire hall meeting. Sixty nine attended. a community letter, door canvass February 22 to 28, and first aid training February 1 were announced with service to nearby towns and no conflict with established corps.
