50th Anniversary For Hershey Laundry
Hershey Estates Laundry and Dry Cleaning Department marks golden anniversary after starting as Hershey Laundry in 1908 and adding dry cleaning in 1935. The plant now employs ninety eight people, evolving from eight workers. The piece notes early moves including a 1916 fire and a temporary site in an old bowling alley building before settling in the current plant.

Retired Hershey Engineer Mapped Many Job Projects
Charles K. Miller, retired chief engineer of the Hershey Estates, began in 1910 with the Hershey Improvement Company as a timekeeper. He became chief engineer in 1948, aiding expansion of industrial, business, residential and recreational facilities until his 1957 retirement. Born in New Cumberland and a Humme lstown High School graduate, he also played local baseball. He joined survey crews in 1913 for the Hershey Elizabethtown trolley line. Continued on Page Two.
