50th Annual Lebanon Valley Sunday Schools Picnic at Hershey Park
The Reading special carried about 1600 people including 400 children under five for the 50th LVSS Picnic excursion. The train arrived around 10:00 a.m. with departure at 7:30 p.m. after a small delay. Hershey Park officials welcomed back longtime committee members and noted the milestone with signs at the park entrance.

Prominent speakers will appear at Hershey from August 25 to 28 for the 12th annual Pennsylvania Dutch Days. Program opening each day covers beliefs and customs of Pennsylvania Germans. Revd Pierce E. Swope discusses language barriers in school and home. Dr. Arthur D. Graeff moderates panels and presents covered bridges lectures. Revd Luther N. Schaeffer covers German superstitions. Outdoor service features Revd Ralph E. Starr on Die Alt Schpring. Prof. Rufus K. Eby reads scriptures. The Honor-Ident sedges Pots Con ot Coe common Pleas of Lehigh County discusses disputes. Community Theatre service on Aug 28 features Revd Dr. Raymond I. Lindquist.

Local Scout Returns From National Jamboree Attendance and Memories
F. Scott Pierce, 13, son of Dr. and Mrs. F. F. Pierce of Hershey, returns from the fifth National Jamboree near Colorado Springs with memories of a two week trip. Some 55,000 Scouts from 50 states and 36 foreign countries lined the road to honor President Eisenhower. Navy Blue Angels flyovers delighted him. Pierce belonged to Troop 203, First Church EUB, Hershey, and toured with Troop 83 of Danville, Pa. He earned patches from Hawaii, Capital Area, Washington DC, Valley Forge, Camp Potomac, plus two Explorer patches and Colorado’s Park Hill.

The eleventh annual M. S. Hershey Day will be held at the Community Theatre on Sunday September 18 at 2 00 p m. Rotary International leader Joseph A Abey will speak and the Rudie Sinfonietta will provide music under Robert Rudie’s direction.
