White faces two drinking age bills in Texas
Gov Mark White now has two avenues to raise the drinking age to 21 as House and Senate actions push a pair of measures to his desk. One bill would raise the age to 21 effective Sept 1 1986, and a second would add tougher DWI penalties for drinking while driving. The bills respond to federal highway fund threats and include self destruct provisions if federal mandates change.
