Mitchell to serve Watergate sentence at Alabama camp

Former Attorney General John N. Mitchell will serve his prison term for the Watergate coverup at a minimum security camp at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery Alabama. The Federal Bureau of Prisons said the Montgomery facility is smaller and more secure than the Atlenwood camp in Pennsylvania where other Watergate figures have been held.

Two Women Missing From Dixie Lee 1 Boat Cast As Hypothetical

Two of the nine listed as missing and presumed drowned after the Dixie Lee 1 capsized in Chesapeake Bay were not aboard the 42-foot charter boat. Virginia Dunn 50 of Portsmouth and Renee Haskins 14 of Norfolk told authorities they were not on board during Monday's storm. Four bodies were recovered before the Coast Guard suspended search at nightfall Tuesday, with seven still missing as dawn broke today.

Nearly 92, still lively in Manitowoc

Mrs. L. H. Bowman of 3910 Waldo Blvd Manitowoc recalls a long life shaped by hardship. Born nearly 92 in northeastern Indiana she endured blindness from childhood an eighth grade education widowed twice and worked in a factory in her 60s. She remembers Tippecanoe Lake Indian braves and a grandmother’s elderberry salve. Her long marriage to Calvin Cooper spanned 37 years and included the 1918 flu epidemic.
