Eastern Oregon stockmen face weaker prices this year
Mr Lonergan says Eastern Oregon stockmen will not receive as good prices as last year despite cattle in better condition. Demand is not brisk in both the Sound country and Haad. He notes many large lumber mills on the Sound have shut down in recent months, impacting markets.

Cattle Market Slows As Packers Hold Stock
A year of reduced operation leaves industries underused and many unemployed. Packers hold surplus holdings, buying slowly and selling only the best beef cattle. Next week I plan to ship ten carloads from Butter Creek country, about 2750 cattle, fat and healthy. Also note a local testimonial endorsing Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tablets by a Rochester, Indiana, druggist.

Fire destroys Finley farm house on Sand Hollow
The Finley residence on lower Sand Hollow burned last Friday with most of the contents lost. Details are scarce but the fire is thought to stem from a defective fire. Mr. Finley had just returned from Heppner and witnessed the fire’s end. The lot’s extent is not known, but the home was described as comfortable.
