Forger Caught in Worthless-Check Ring Near Henry
A man who worked for farmer William Wheeler near Putnam passed checks totaling 210 dollars in Henry on July 23, signed F H Hinkles and used Wheeler’s name. A suspect named Garfield was later arrested in Macomb for similar fraud, sentenced there, and Wheeler plans to press Marshall County indictment.

Two Brothers Die In Butterfield Crossing Wreck
Herman and Quincy Shepard of La Rose were killed when an eastbound Aurora and Elgin Electric train collided with their two cylinder runabout at Butterfield road crossing. The car overturned, caught fire, and burned after impact. Both victims died from severe head and chest injuries.
