Henry Celebrates World Peace Victory Parade
Citizens of the county joined a large celebration featuring a parade headed by the Pooria Municipal Band, veterans, Red Cross, Boy Scouts, and local officials. A 500 yard cloth banner was displayed, and Adjutant General Dickson delivered a notable war focus speech.

Peculiar Runaway Damages Car and Wagon
Last Saturday Arthur Newell drove a wagon with horses toward the depot when a ferocious dog spooked the team. They hit the railroad track, throwing the wagon box and Arthur, as the team collided with an Overland car owned by Mrs. C. Fosdick of Whitefield and driven by her son. One horse and the wagon tongue struck the car, damaging its rear while the other horse climbed the radiator, breaking the windshield. the car was left out of commission. Wounded Hero Walter Merritt in France Hospital
Mr and Mrs Frank Merritt of Galesburg learn their son Sergt Walter E Merritt of Company D 23 Infantry is wounded and hospitalized in France. He says a shell hit his back after six over the top trips at four fronts in two raiding parties. He served six years including time in Hawaii and Honolulu. The Merritts hope he and their son Archie can soon return home after the war ends. Pathetic public scenes occur as the town joins county peace celebrations with all shops and schools closing and crowds gathering in Lacon.
