Delia Ruius age unknown, born 1831 in an island, died Sunday. She lived in the country about 30 years, worked as a coal miner, left a wife in England who never joined him, and received county aid in old age. Funeral at Sparland cemetery with few friends attending. Anton Frank Zindt, born Alsace Lorraine about 187? died Tuesday morning after heart disease. He ran a butcher shop in Sparland four years, recently turned over to Trompeter, funeral at St Joseph church Peoria then St Joseph cemetery. leaves wife two daughters and a son.

Silas Cartwright arrived last Friday from South Dakota after a three month absence. He reports good health and no rheumatism. He hauled wheat to market, noting loads of 130 to 140 bushels per trip and a peak of 163 bushels. Wheat yields ranged 30 to 40 bushels per acre on frozen ground. He wore heavy clothing and a fur overcoat. mosquitoes forced farmers to smudge fields for horses. His daughter Gertrude joined him upon return.
