Henry Plans Big Fourth of July Celebration in 1915
A large Henry meeting at the Commercial Club laid plans for the annual Fourth of July celebration on July 8. Committees for finance, speakers, music, sports, advertising, fireworks, decorations, water and hats were formed, with C. A. Camp as chair and L. D. Gregory as secretary. Decor ation Day orders from Springfield urged joint patriotic services and armed parades, with G. A. R. and W. R. C. to lead ceremonies and Henry City bands to provide music.

The Henry Greys hosted the Combination ball team of Peoria, drawing several hundred fans on the steamer Columbia. Cold wind and dust did not stop the crowd as Henry Greys won 15 to 5 after early pitching by Secrest and Phelps. later, Johnson and Mennega relieved. Key hitters were Sheldon Luvisi and Johnson.
