Announcement notes a May Festival at the Opera House on Friday evening May 14 1915 with admission ten cents. Also includes local society notes and community updates on visitors events and obituaries.
Miss Lila R. Bell and Clarence H. Poling wed at the family residence on First street in a quiet ceremony. Rev. J. B. Mercer officiated with close relatives present. The couple shared a three course supper and plans for a prosperous life together.
The second Sunday in May observed by proclamation honored mothers living and dead at the M B Sunday school and church services. The sermon on The Dignity of Motherhood stressed motherhood duties and influence. Miss Jessie Green of La Salle visited relatives and old friends. Fred and family plan to move to Melrose Park as Fred takes a printer position with Charlie Spangler at Sears Roebuck.
Magdaline Phillips Marian Wabel Anna Thumma Louis Schmitt and Jennie Clark took the state teacher's examination at Lacon Thursday and Friday. Commencement will be held on the evening of June 4 with the class furnishing their own program. Elmer Harrison bought a Ford car from C. M. Lucas on Tuesday.
The Kern delivery auto broke its rear axle on Third street in front of C. E Burt's residence. Mrs G M Clark thanks the Ladies Aid of the M E church for a potted plant during illness. Mrs Clark Swift hopes to return home to Henry this week. Samuel Garland finished drilling a 165 foot well for a farmer near Hennepin. Ferryman Kriete acquires a large towboat to run the Chillicothe ferry swiftly. Hom Worthington ends his circuit court tenure in Peoria after years as a respected judge. C J Conway in Chicago now sells an auto trailer truck for carrying loads. A sermon on secrets urges discretion as a force for unity and charity. Mrs G M Clark's brother B E Fosdick suffers a paralytic stroke. hopes for recovery. Mrs Samuel Coats of Kewanee dies. born 1844, survived by husband and daughter. A jury in La Rose finds Frank N Rood not guilty of mail fraud linked to Buckley & Co. The Gallups of Pontiac plan a coast trip by auto to Seattle and Panama Exposition, then San Diego fair, October return. Mr Gallup guides with one arm and travels by auto to San Diego and back.
