Gypsies Raid Tiskilwa Store and Attack City Marshal
A gang of Gypsies raided Kitterman general store in Tiskilwa taking canned goods and nearly all portable items. They slashed the city marshal with a horsewhip after he ordered them to return the goods. They fled toward Princeton after a noon confrontation with officers in front of the courthouse. The group also attempted to entice a farmer to have his fortune told and were said to be the same gang linked to robberies in La Salle and other towns.
