Good Roads Lecture Delivers Road Care Ideals
Assistant State Engineer T R Agg and Parke Fireark visited Henry to present a stereopticon lecture on rural road maintenance. They advocated ditch drainage, center-dragged roads, and water removal including tiling, with state support for gravel or hard materials and equipment loans. They showed cement bridges and roads as durable, urging local pride and investment to extend road lifespans and taxpayer value.

An Object Lesson on Illinois Earth Roads
A Chicago Tribune style argument urges Marshall County and Illinois to fix earth roads by regular dragging to keep them smooth in all seasons. It compares rough ruts to impassable sections and promotes a state road fund, equal to the school fund, to repair miles and relieve traffic disruption. McMahon Case Reversed Again by Illinois Supreme Court
The Illinois Supreme Court reversed the McMahon murder verdict for the second time and remanded for a new trial citing insufficient evidence. The court questioned the credibility of key witnesses and noted circumstantial evidence and potential self defense by McMahon, while criticizing the state's main witnesses. The ruling implies further possible prosecution is unlikely given costs and weak evidence.
