City Votes on July 15 for Henry Hard Road Bond

Baby McVicker Swallows Tacks in Parental Ordeal
Seven month old baby of Mr. and Mrs. John D. McVicker from Saratoga township Marshall county swallowed about 40 tacks after a sibling left the box accessible. He was rushed to Peoria for X ray then to Chicago where Dr Stanton A Freedburg at Presbyterian Hospital removed 43 tacks from the lungs in a delicate operation. The child survived the peril and is recovering with no reported complications.

Naval seaplanes pass over city on inland exhibition
Tuesday morning three naval seaplanes flew over town heading toward Chicago then returned along the river. The display accompanies submarines and destroyers on an inland tour from the gulf to show water and air power. Planes carried a mail pouch from St Louis to Chicago marking the first air mail run between those cities. Plane No 20 was visible on the return.
