Coroner Deals With Toluca Train Fatality
A Santa Fe eastbound train struck Peter Lernardo as he walked along the Toluca track about 6 am on May 28 1905. Coroner W J Thomas impanelled a jury and witnesses described the accident and Lernardo’s possible misjudgment of distance from the rail. The verdict blamed Lernardo’s own carelessness, noting he died from the engine strike while walking with Carlo Bernardo on either side of the track. The inquest also recounted the coroner’s buggy mix up with Lostant and Toluca livery for a time.

She notes accommodations second class vs first class and meals timings 8 15 breakfast 12 45 lunch 6 45 dinner plus the deck breeze aiding recovery and that Johnnie is well while six to eight babies and several children are aboard.
