James S. Weir born in Maine in 1902 moved to Illinois as a child. He served in the 77th Regiment N L Vol during the Civil War and worked as a carpenter most of his life. He died after falling ill and was buried in Cumberland Presbyterian cemetery near Magnolia with G A R comrades as pallbearers.
