An early morning Rock Island passenger train on the Peoria Branch derailed two and a half miles south of Bureau due to a washed away wooden bridge over a creek. Engineer Allen and Fireman King were bruised but survived. passengers were jolted but no serious injuries occurred. A stub train carried on by the wreck, with repairs underway as crews cleared tracks and restored service.

Alta Humphrey returns to school after a one week absence. Misses Ethel Swein and Zora Daley visited the literary society Friday. The solid geometry class in year has five boys and Pearl Bush is pianist this week. Second semester begins with commercial law solid geometry and physiology underway. The Henry Library Association presented library cards to public school teachers, hoping to aid reading tastes. Freshman Pleasure club met January 18 at Mrs Thomas Clark's with Lela Clark Vivian Heininger and Helena Kane entertaining. Walter Duke won most games and royal entertains named. Senior class officers elected Virgil Vale president Robert Elliston vice president and Harry Stoner secretary treasurer. Two high school pupils suspended for rule infractions one indefinitely the other pending reinstatement on good behavior.
