Hart Responds To Afton Accusations Over Children Case
Hastings Hart of the Children’s Home and Aid Society defends the organization in a lengthy reply to Florian Afton. He states no society agent filed a petition in La Salle county and details court actions from 1904 involving custody, habeas corpus, and subsequent restorations to the father. He argues judges did not err and that the society acted as guardian only when legally appointed and handled homes for the children.

Senator Proposes Law Denying Hunting Club Privileges
A bill by Senator B M Chiperfield of Fulton county would bar clubs or individuals from controlling land between meander lines of streams, potentially opening private hunting and fishing rights on Spring Lake, Clear Lake, and similar waters to public use. It targets the Schulte decision and would vest ownership of lakes and beds in the state, allowing public harvests under state fish and game laws.
