Skiddoo Company minstrel show delights Henry school crowd
A large audience filled the opera house last Thursday to see the Henry Skiddoo company perform blackface minstrelsy. The cast featured Oscar Davis, Kathleen de Vries, Bones Camp, Dice Endsley, and Tambo Miller among others with musical numbers, cakewalk, and humorous turns, all in support of public school funds and local journalism coverage.

Regular City Council Meeting Minutes February 4 1907
The city council met in city hall Monday night February 4 1907 with Mayor Hutchins and Aldermen present. Bills for January include water works $6000 marshal $200, light $210, clerks salaries, insurances, coal, gasoline and street work. Council moved to approve the bills and transfer licenses for saloons. multiple bonds and transfers were authorized. Meeting adjourned with minutes read and approved.

Obituary of John G. Faris Former Mt Ayr Resident
John G. Faris died in Perry Oklahoma on January 27 1907 aged 77. He served as a sergeant in the 86th Illinois Infantry Enlisted 1862 and served through the Civil War including Perryville Chickamauga Lookout Mountain and the Atlanta campaign. He was born near Wheeling West Virginia November 4 1829 and married Anna T Paris in Fairfax Virginia in 1867. He lived in Liberty township Iowa before moving to Mt Ayr in 1899 and later to Perry Oklahoma where his funeral was held January 29 1907 attended by the G R and I O F orders and family. He was survived by six children Walter T Villeroy Wilbur L Ethel Faris Trullinger Edward L and John L. He joined the Presbyterian church early and lived a devout Christian life.

Mrs. 8 L Clift hosted the Woman's club at her Henry Illinois home on Monday February 4. The program on Illinois featured Mrs Lincoln on the eighteenth century, Mrs Bayne on waterways, and Mrs Hartley debut with cities and notable buildings. The group sang America led by Mrs Townsend and enjoyed chocolate and a luncheon mints. The club plans a future lecture by Enos Mills of Colorado on forestry. Rev George E Young, new rector of St Johns, spoke on his move from Herscher to Henry and farewell events in Herscher.
