Mr and Mrs Lawrence Lippert observed their 50th wedding anniversary at 334 East Jefferson Street Los Angeles Cal with a small gathering of relatives and old acquaintances. They were married in Illinois and moved to California about ten years ago. A four course luncheon was served by Miss Emily Hartenhower and staff. A watch chain was given to Mr Lippert by his nephew Frank Kramer of Chillicothe Texas.

The Peoria papers publish the death of Matthew Gorman who died on a train in Arkansas from lung trouble. A 15 year Peoria fire department pipeman and a onetime summons responder at the Paskell house block fire of January 21, 1901. He was the last of several visiting firemen from Peoria who were praised for hospitality and teamwork. He leaves a wife.

Boys Club Meeting Promotes Storytelling and Moral Growth
About 50 junior high boys met at President Kenneth King’s home where Miss Stauver supervised a varied program of vocal and instrumental selections. Mrs Ey manon of Aurora shared stories focusing on courage and character, followed by a reading by King’s sister. The event stressed self sacrifice and endurance through tales like True and Untrue Browneff and Bag of Smiles, and featured singing and refreshments. Walter Smith was elected president for the next meeting and Superintendent King attended to outline uplifting aims for the group. A comic opera project at People’s Hall was announced for Feb 8 and 9 with tickets at Segraves’ drug store, promising music, dance, and amateur acting.
