Henry Butter and Cheese Factory Opens Its Doors
A detailed visit through the Henry Butter and Cheese Factory describes a 88 by 40 foot main building divided into four apartments. It covers a power room with 12 hp boiler and 10 hp engine, a manufacturing room with two 38000 lb per hour cream separators, a cheese room with presses and vats, a churn room with an 800 gallon churn, and a cold storage room cooled by circulating well water. The facility includes an office and weighing room, and a 9 by 80 foot shed for milk delivery. With about 85 percent of produced goods returned to farmers and potential monthly distribution of 1000 to its patrons, the plant aims to improve farm income and soil enrichment. Leon F. Bingaman of Logansport will manage, bringing 14 years of butter and cheese experience to ensure a smooth start. The opening drew a crowd as workers and artisans stood outside the building.
