Henry Butter and Cheese Factory Opens This Morning

The Henry butter and cheese factory started business today with celebration. W R C convention held at Odd Fellows Hall where 16 ladies from Lacon Sparland and Chilliothe joined with helpers to hold a harmonious session. Mrs Disosway welcomed guests after which talks and a community meal followed at Tennant's restaurant.

Woman Injured In Fall From Trap Door in Summer Kitchen

Mrs A D Stevens suffered a painful accident last Thursday morning while in her summer kitchen. She slipped into the cellar through a trap door, sustaining a bruised hip shoulder and arm. Dr Gromwell attended, noting minor injuries and a shaken condition. She resumed light chores with a sling on one arm. The report also notes Mr Stevens’ visit home from rice work in Katy Texas and his near-fatal accident in a well. Other items mention construction of a 16 foot skiff by A V Goltra, shipbuilder Charles Perdew, and postmaster Kline receiving Shanghai Times and Kobe Chronicle. Mrs Harriet Thompson-Hurlbut of Chicago died aged 70 in Chicago and was interred in Lacon. Born Garrigus in Ohio, she lived in Lacon as a child and spent 80 years in Chicago. William S Hansom, husband of Stella Hansom, died in Las Vegas New Mexico from tuberculosis and heart failure after his wife joined him. he is buried in Forest Home cemetery in Chicago.

Henry Butter and Cheese Factory tour described

The Henry Butter and Cheese Factory tour reveals a 12 hp boiler 10 hp engine a 4000 lb per hour cream separator cheese presses and a 300 gallon churn. The cooling cold storage uses perforated galvanized pipes and well water to maintain near freezing temperature. Manager Leon F. Bingaman from Logansport will run the plant which aims to distribute about $1000 monthly to farmers and boost local commerce.

Doctor leaves for Desv-atation Speer route in Peoria county

De Parted Saturday for the destination Speer in Peoria county on the New Minois branch of the Northwestern R R system. The doctor located here about eighteen months ago and brings a promising field for his profession and future usefulness. He is a tenor singer and ready reader, likely to contribute to the community. Miss Mayme Kirkpatrick has returned home from Henry after a visit with her uncle A Croft. War Burr and wife of Roberts township with Douglas Hillabrand and M A Wilson of Magnolia, along with Mr Nelson of Kansas City, left Tuesday for the southwest to explore Missouri and Oklahoma.

G M Towomon Locks new residence is complete and ready for occupancy once Miss Mariam returns. Rev and Mrs Nesbit recently returned from the east, Mariato remains white for longer stay. The house features hard wood floors, electric wiring, furnace heat, and three sided porches with a dormered second story giving a mansard finish. Hannum visited, noting his popularity and potential as a candidate. Death of Losta Wherry Ends a Devoted Life in Putnam

Losta Wherry born April 18 1888 daughter of James and sister of Loata E Hinn Wherry died August 7 1902 after illness treated as consumption. She was an active Christian and Sunday School member. Services were at Putnam Christian church at 8 PM and her remains interred at Putnam cemetery. Pallbearers were Misses Stipp Williams Cook Boner Muld Ilsle Carroll. Funeral for Henry Funston in Keota after hayload fall

A telegram from Keota Iowa informs of the death of Henry Funston son of Thomas Funston of Lone Tree. He died after falling from a hayload hitting his head causing fatal brain concussion. He was on the last load at meadow when a horse jolted, throwing him to the ground. He leaves a wife four children and a prosperous farming family.
