Saved by Swimming From Columbia Disaster
Two sons of Edward Janney of Minneapolis survived the sinking of the Columbia after two hours in the Pacific. Trained swimmers from Minnetonka credited with saving themselves and others, they were rescued by a boat and reached Portland days later. Captain Wallace received a telegram Tuesday morning from Morris reporting that the bank had given way and the water in the canal was rising. Two boats were endangered as they lay nearby, obscured by flood conditions.

Fatal interurban accident at Hamilton street crossing
Michael Louis and wife were driving into Odell when the rear wheel struck by a Berrabouns Interurban car caused a serious crash. Louis was unconscious after a head injury and died within hours. Mrs Louis survived. Funeral and interment held at Odell. Louis was a son of the late Matthew Louis of Putnam and a long-time farmer near Odell.

Chicago to St Louis Interurban Plan Details 1908
McKinley announces Illinois Traction System plans to connect Chicago and St Louis by 1908 with a new 283 mile route. The line will extend north to Seneca and Ottawa, build a $2.5 million bridge at Venice, and provide through service by day and night in sleepers and parlor cars. Completion targets include connections near Peoria and a Danville link to Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan. The system will total about 700 miles of interurban lines once finished.
