Tragic Runaway Fatality of Thomas W Stoner
A Marshall County community mourns as Thomas W Stoner dies from a buggy accident. After hitching his family to an open buggy to board a train, a runaway horse collided with a tree, flinging Stoner headfirst against it and fracturing his skull. He died Tuesday after being unresponsive since Sunday. Stoner, 71, was a long-time resident, farmer, and public servant, leaving a wife and five surviving children.

Sudden Call Ends Life of William German in Putnam County
William German born March 12 1840 in Oxbow Prairie Putnam County Illinois enlisted 77th Indiana during Civil War and later farmed in Putnam and Hopewell townships. He died suddenly after voting in an alderman election with Ada Stewart German his wife of 1863 and eight children, three surviving, funeral Saturday at 10 am Caledonia cemetery Oxbow.

Death of Mr Christian S. Hoscheit of Peru Mercantile Firm
Mr Christian S. Hoscheit senior of Hoscheit & Robbeman a leading Peru dry goods house died at 3 40 on Wednesday April 10 after a week long illness of pneumonia. Born May 2 1840 in Winterscheid Germany he came to America in 1852 and settled in Peru where he helped build a prominent business career. He organized Peru State Bank and served on its board. He married Wilhelmenia Bellinghausen on July 11 1870 and had nine children eight surviving. Funeral held at 2 pm Friday from his West Fourth street home with burial in Peru cemetery.

Mrs. Frank Barkman formerly Fanny Pettegrew born January 16 1879 in Milo Township Bureau County Illinois. She married Frank Barkman January 9 1905 in Ohio and had four children. one died in infancy. She joined the Christian church at seventeen and died April 3 1912. Funeral held Friday at Milo M E Church conducted by Rev Vandervoort.
