In the city election next Tuesday voters will elect one alderman in each ward. Republicans nominate W L Fynnn for First ward and C B Smith for Second ward. Democrats back Frank Yanochowski for First ward, C A Frommel for Second ward, and Alex Doelzer for Third ward. Doelzer has no Republican challenger. Cyrus Brown a longtime Whitefield Illinois resident and veteran of Co F 32d II died April 9 1912 at Long Beach California at age 84 after an altered stomach ailment He was born April 22 1828 in Potsdam NY son of Luther Brown and Pamelia Parker He married Elizabeth Barnes February 11 1858 and had four children across Illinois California and Nevada His public service included school treasurer supervisor and farmer status He moved to California about 15 years ago living in Carmel Hollywood and Long Beach Interment was in Hollywood His death ends a long period of public life and social ties in Marshall County Illinois and whitefield township He will be remembered for his upright life and usefulness.

Woman's Club Luncheon Brings April 1 Social Scene
A regular meeting of the Woman's club held Monday afternoon April 1 at Mrs Albert Stickels home featured a club luncheon. Mrs Sadie Smith retires as Domestic Science chairman after a successful term. President Mrs Samuel Clift opened with brief business then Mrs Ella Wood sang a solo. Guests and members enjoyed a three course luncheon with Easter card place cards and souvenir gifts. Toasts honored the hostess president club home and the guests.

Mrs Ed Kranz dies after long illness in Hopewell township
Mrs Hulda O Grothe Kranz, born Pontiac July 30 1886, died Sunday April 7 at 3 19 pm at her home in Hopewell township Marshall county Illinois. She married Ed Kranz December 21 1904 and leaves a husband two children her parents Fred and Maria Grothe and a sister. She was a member of the German Lutheran church at Rutland where funeral was held yesterday at 10 am with interment at Minoak.
