Farewell Reception For Fr Harrington At St Josephs Church
Parishioners held a farewell reception for Rev. D. K. Harrington who resigns from the priesthood due to ill health. A 6:30 8:00 dinner for priests and Harrington’s niece Miss Evelyn Sheehan followed by a program featured music and tributes from Father Casey Father Fitzgerald and Father Schauer. The event included gifts a radio a recap of his service and his last mass at St Joseph’s. He will retire at the William A Klein residence and temporary administrator Rev H B Cusey will oversee St Joseph’s.

Lacon Woolen Mill Reopens After Labor Dispute
Labor troubles that threatened the Lacon Woolen Mill have ended after C I O organizers left the Lacon field. About 175 workers have been rehired from a peak of nearly 300. The mill now runs one shift with a $16,000 monthly payroll versus $25,000 before the shutdown. The CIO claim notes a roughly $9,000 industry reduction and a two week payroll loss of $12,000 during the strike period.

Gregorys in Highway Tragedy Near Kewanee
Lawrence D. Gregory of Princeton formerly of Marshall County died when his car collided head on with a passing vehicle near Kewanee. Mrs. Gregory was killed and four others injured. State Patrolman J F Bates assisted at the scene. Coroner’s jury ruled the wreck unavoidable for the other car’s occupants.
