Concrete pours begin on Magnolia Gap road link
The Midwest Construction Company started yesterday pouring concrete for a new hard road linking Magnolia to Route 51 near Lostant. The east end near Lostant progresses west toward Magnolia with seven miles to be completed in a few weeks. The Magnolia route should open with shoulders by Carl Fall and will boost east traffic through Henry, prompting faster completion of the Henry to Route 6 segment. Meanwhile the State Highway Department removes the old Rutland Toluca and Northern Railroad viaduct remnants and uses the dirt and concrete for fills on the highway south of Magnolia at the key intersection once the Lostant gap is done.
