Henry city council discussed granting Central Illinois Light Company a 50 year natural gas franchise to serve Henry and nearby communities. CILCO officials outlined plans to run 88,000 feet of mains from Peoria, extend service to Goodrich and Rohm & Haas, and heat Henry city hall at no charge. The vote is set for the July 1 meeting. project work on Henry Street progresses.

Bonnie Magnuson earned a bachelor of science in education from Illinois State Normal University during the 98th annual commencement at the ISNU campus Natural Amphitheatre. Speaker Senator David Davis, class called Centennial year. Magnuson teaches in John Swaney and Groton schools and will teach fourth grade next year. to work at Farouche Ranch in Woodland Colorado this summer.

University Awards Three Scholarships In Marshall County
Three Marshall County high school graduates won University of Illinois scholarships announced by County Superintendent C. W. Swangon. Recipients are Ward Royce Maisch Henry for county scholarship Darrel Dean Junker Varna agriculture and Winston James Scott Lacon child of World War II veteran scholarship. Only five graduates took the April exam with no applicants for home economics or veterans children scholarships. Scott and Junker graduated from Mid-County High School and Maisch from Henry Senachwine.

Amphitheater Seat Rebuild At Marshall Putnam Fair
The Marshall Putnam fair association rebuilt amphitheater seating with chair height, added new aisles, installed safety sills, and planned painting. Stratton Dedicates Lacon Hennepin Highway As Worth Cost
Gov. Stratton praised the Lacon to Hennepin highway dedication held at the Lacon courthouse. The $1,573,000 road attracted a large crowd with a parade, speeches by Pace and others, and musical tributes. Stratton announced safety enhancements, more highway patrols, and a $10 million school traffic-safety program.
