4-H Club Tour At University Of Illinois Attended
Four Marahal Putnam oup-To-Attend- 4-H-Club members and leaders expected to attend the annual 4-H tour at the University of Illinois on July 7, 8 and 9. The event features talks demonstrations and stunts by 4-H members from Marshall Putnam and other counties with about forty Marshall and Putnam delegates and a band and girls in club work.

Memorial Day Observed in Henry and Putnam Ceremonies
Memorial Day observances were held Monday in Henry and Putnam. Henry saw a 9:30 a.m. Legion procession, a bridge rite for sailors and marines, cemetery services, band selections, dove release, a benediction by Rev. Walter T. Ward, and a Legion firing squad salute. Putnam featured a cemetery service led by J. B. Crandell with praise for Caleb Condit, a Putnam citizen active in planning, plus district band numbers and a Putnam Band address by Rev. H. G. Dusenberry. Special services Sunday at the Henry Methodist Church were well attended.

Eighty five to ninety per cent of this year's corn crop in Marshall and Putnam Counties has been planted. The crop prospects in this section are favorable. Some farmers around Henry still have corn to plant on low land or due to deliberate May 1 delays. Late planting should finish in a few days. Wheat and oats prospects also look favorable in the Henry area.

Death summons aged resident in Magnolia Township
Josiah John Tomlinson died at his farm home Friday May 27 at age 85. Funeral services were held from his late residence near McNabb with Friends and Masonic rites. He was born April 27 1853 in Magnolia Township and survived by two sons Walter and Russell, plus a sister Alice. He belonged to the Religious Society of Friends, the Masonic Order and the Order of Eastern Star.
