Executives of the Peoria council met in Henry on Wednesday to map the 1956 annual drive funds. The goal is set at 875.00 for Henry based on Scout numbers, with a house to house canvass scheduled for February 6 and professional solicitation on January 34.
Calvin W. J. Phelps, Bureau County states attorney, filed a circuit court suit against the Bureau County Republican of Princeton seeking 1 million dollars in damages. Granville village board approved a half cent sales tax on all village sales. The tax, enacted without referendum, will be collected by merchants and remitted to the state with six percent kept for collection. Estimated monthly revenue is about 500 to fund village improvements like sewers and sidewalks. The town plans to recon ditions its old well and use the new well for recent needs. Charles and Louise Swartz of Wenona received a total $34,000 in Ottawa circuit court for injuries from a July 25 1954 auto crash on Route 18. Louise Swartz was awarded $24,000 from Henry Loebach who was alleged to be over the center line. Charles Swartz sought $35,000 and got $10,000.
Charles Greeley, former principal of McNabb grade school and now business manager of the Peoria school system, was elected president of the Peoria Kiwanis Club yesterday.
