Dalton named Apple Farmer of the Year at North Carolina Apple Festival
Eugene Charles Bud Dalton of Edneyville receives the Apple Farmer of the Year honor during the 66th North Carolina Apple Festival opening under clear skies. Dalton, a third generation grower, raises apples on 75 acres with his son Jeff on Bald Rock Road, sells about 80 percent of his crop for processing, and pollinates trees with his own beehives. The award is sponsored by United Community Bank and recognizes decades of farming amid spring freezes and family legacy. Grand and great contributions are celebrated with festival ceremonies at Henderson County Historic Courthouse.
