County mulls Edneyville Elementary closure option
Henderson County commissioners rejected moving Edneyville Elementary ahead of Hendersonville High in the construction schedule. They cited enrollment declines, capacity in nearby districts, and a $24 million new facility vs a $9.3 million renovation as the preferred path. They stated a Stillwell building renovation is not an option and reiterated plans for a new state-of-the-art HHS campus, noting rising costs with inflation.

Historic Commission approves 2450 sq ft home on Third Avenue
Hendersonville to get its first new residential downtown as Gus Campano wins a 6 1 vote for a 2450 square foot two and a half story house on Third Avenue East east of Edwards Alley. The design by Frank Kelsch uses brick veneer natural stone and a metal roof with a two car garage and loft. Concerns cited about Edwards Alley access and compatibility with the historic district were noted but zoning allows residential construction downtown.

Wolfe's Angel cleanup takes longer due to mold on marble statue
Conservator Kara Warren of the Biltmore Estate began cleaning Wolfe's Angel under sunny skies, saying dense biological growth from six years without cleaning requires extra labor. She applied cleaner, collected a lab sample, and will report to the Historic Preservation Commission with repair steps and costs after assessment. The statue stood at the porch of a funeral monument shop owned by W O Wolfe, later sold to Margaret Bates Johnson's family.
