Duke weighs routes to limit impact of Foothills line
Duke Energy postponed announcing a preferred route for the 45 mile 230 kilovolt Foothills Transmission Line through Henderson County and Campobello to early November and will study alternatives. Spokesman Tom Williams said the company is examining possible substitutes to meet long term electricity needs while addressing tourism and mountain-view concerns raised by residents. State Sen. Tom Apodaca noted the large volume of comments, with about 9,000 responses shaping the discussion. Robert Sipes of Duke said the goal is a plan with the least impact on property owners, the environment, and communities.
