Henderson County fire districts push to hold tax rate steady
Eight rural departments oppose revenue neutral rates citing staffing, pay, and gear costs. Fire trucks rose from 484000 to 719000 between 2018 and 2022, turnout gear costs jumped 30 percent, and nine engines along with eight tankers may need replacement over four years. Half the districts plan new or renovated stations amid inflation. Lapsley warns of a 5.3 million increase in fire tax revenue influencing the general fund.
