County man blasts motto sign on courthouse
Allen, a Davidson County minister, says adding the motto Since 1956 to county buildings harms historic integrity of the 1905 Main Street courthouse and violates religious freedom. He criticizes the Zoning Board of Adjustment and county commissioners for ignoring his appeal. The U S Motto Action Committee claims about half of North Carolina counties now display the phrase.
