Neighborhood celebrates state second largest beech tree milestone
In Henderson County, Mark Stickney and about 20 neighbors marked his 100 plus year old beech with donuts and lawn games. Asheville Greenworks named the tree a Treasured Tree and certified it as the largest beech in the county while noting its non invasive status. The Stickneys received a certificate and a plaque, and Stickney hopes the Champion Tree listing and Greenworks designation help protect the tree in Ridgeview off North Rugby Road.
