Hendersonville Council selects Wingate for old mill site
Hendersonville officials chose Richmond developer Robert Englander to relocate Wingate College to the 98-year-old Grey Hosiery Mill site. The 3-2 vote favors the Wingate plan over apartments or retail proposals with a 90 day target to finalize a long term lease and a July 1, 2015 finish line. Wingate aims to consolidate classes downtown and expand MBA and pharmacy programs, with new health programs planned. Environmental cleanup costs remain uncertain as tests show contaminated water on site.
