Mills River approves stump grinding operation expansion
The Mills River Town Board granted Riverside Stump Dump a special use permit to expand on a 6.8 acre site off N C 280 and Old N C 191. The plan, contingent on a state permit, increases storage to over 6 000 cubic feet per quarter and shifts to a treatment and processing facility without adding grinders or hours. The firm sells mulch for residential use and boiler fuel to East Tennessee and North Georgia, with greater setbacks required from a stream and property line.
