Mills River approves 2013-14 sheriff contract and SUV purchase
Mills River Town Council approved a 2013-14 contract with the Henderson County Sheriff's Department totaling 108 153 dollars. It funds a deputy patrol and a 45 952 dollar 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe and designates deputy Jesse Blankenship with a 38 101 annual pay plus 22 762 in benefits. The change reflects a 6 937 increase funded by a 16 000 contingency. Town Manager Jaime Laughter called it tight but said the town remains financially strong with a 3 million fund balance.
