The Henderson County inspections department reports fall in housing starts and new commercial projects for the first 11 months of 2014 versus 2013, offset by rises in residential and commercial remodeling and total value gains. Residential construction rose 6.2 percent to 78.3 million, while new commercial value increased 4.4 percent to 32 million.
The Henderson County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Dec 5 to award full-time employees a $1000 year-end bonus. The expansion relied on a $4.5 million four-year fund balance growth by controlled spending and higher-than-projected revenue. The total cost was $816,208, transferred to payroll to cover the bonuses paid two weeks before Christmas.
River based Clean Streak Inc expands to Myrtle Beach South Carolina after 15 years in Western North Carolina. Owners Horace and Susan Adell plan to duplicate the successful mountain growth process on the coast. We knew we wanted to grow, said Adell. We were looking in Florida when the
Western North Carolina startups with 150000 to 750000 in annual revenue and at least one full time employee can apply by Jan 15 for ScaleUp WNC. A five year 1.2 million SBA grant will fund 150 companies in a six week curriculum, with cohorts starting in late February.
Podiatrist Pamela Stover D.P.M. has joined Park Ridge Health Wound. She has practiced since 2010 with Hendersonville Podiatry, affiliated with North Carolina Podiatric Physician and Surgeons Group. Stover trained at Barry University in 2007 and VA Medical Center Dayton. She is a member of the American Pediatric Medical Association and the North Carolina Foot and Ankle Society, and has led NCPPSG committees since 2013.
Henderson County residents donated hours to prepare food and wrap toys for the 2014 Bounty of Bethlehem Christmas dinner. Volunteers decorated the gym, sorted coats, cleaned up, and delivered meals to Meals-on-Wheels clients. Local groups and businesses supported with products, services, and time including Crystal's BBQ and Toys for Tots.
