Henderson County sees I-26 work and new outer loop plans
The State Transportation Improvement Plan targets I-26 paving from 2016 to 2020 and widening to I-40 in three phases starting 2020. Elkwood Drive and Shepherd Street alignment on Greenville Highway set for 2016. Add turn lanes at West Henderson High and Rugby Middle to ease congestion in 2016. Replacing 10 rural bridges from 2018 to 2023 and beginning right of way acquisition for a 4.6 mile Balfour Parkway linking US 64 East and NC 191 in 2024.
