Conviction overturned in horrific beating case
A Henderson County man Leonard Schalow was convicted of attempted first degree murder for beating his wife. An appeals panel ruled the conviction invalid citing double jeopardy concerns. If the state does not seek Supreme Court review Schalow could be released as early as January 9.
