Whooping cough prompts hospitals to restrict visits
The rise in pertussis cases has led local hospitals to impose visitation limits. Park Ridge Health announced restrictions last week and Pardee UNC Health Care followed on Monday. The Henderson County Health Department reported 34 pertussis cases and identified about 1,000 close contacts among students. Pardee prohibits visits by children 12 and under to patient rooms to reduce infection risk.
