Salvage Wisdom From May and Minnie in Ivy Gap Lore
Jere Brittain recalls May and Minnie Wilson of Ivy Gap in Yancey County who saved odds and ends rather than discard them. The tale blends frugality with memory as family boxes reveal keepsakes from a passport to old doilies and plow points, illustrating a lifelong habit of choosing what to keep.
