Upkeep dispute sparks suit in Carriage Park area

The Carriage Park Homeowners Association sues Cottage Walk owners over who pays for maintenance of limited common areas. The Henderson County case, filed Aug. 7 by attorney Craig Justus, could affect two other nearby neighborhoods within the 470-dwelling Carriage Park development.

Backlund's forty years in the National Park Service end this fall

Connie Backlund, longtime Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site ranger in Flat Rock, grew up on an Ohio farm and found her calling after field trips to major Western parks. After 38 years with the NPS and 18 at Sandburg, she will retire on Oct. 3, describing her work as a steady, unassuming dedication to the park service and its people.
