Henderson County punts Playhouse tax to new authority
After three hours of public input, Henderson County commissioners delayed the 1 percent tourism tax hike for the Flat Rock Playhouse and sent the issue to a newly formed Tourism Development Authority. Commissioner Larry Young urged study of the plan, while opponents argued the tax would hurt local inns and tourism. Playhouse officials defended funding needs and noted the venture already brings substantial out of county patrons.
