Henderson County honors 95th birthday of Dr George A Jones
Dozens gathered Sunday to celebrate Dr George A Jones's 95th birthday in Henderson County and thank him for his years of service. County Commissioner Grady Hawkins recalled Jones's early role as a Republican delegate in 1992 and noted his World War II chaplain service. Saluda official Leon Morgan recalled Jones as a lifelong neighbor and parade grand marshal. Jones urged Society members to chronicle county history and recruit younger volunteers to publish a new volume of The Heritage of Henderson County.
